Aliona Hlivco Joins High-Level Discussion at London Defence Conference
On 10th May, St James’s Foreign Policy Group Founder and CEO, Aliona Hlivco, participated in London Defence Conference, contributing to a high-level discussion on the security challenges facing democratic societies amid a rapidly shifting geopolitical landscape.
Held at King’s College London, the annual conference convened senior defence officials, policymakers, military leaders, and experts from across NATO and beyond to address the urgent questions shaping global security. The 2025 agenda focused heavily on adapting Western deterrence and resilience strategies in light of Russia’s ongoing war on Ukraine, rising instability in the Middle East, and the mounting influence of authoritarian powers.
In a panel discussion centred on the future of societal resilience and strategic foresight, Hlivco explored how democratic nations must recalibrate their defence and foreign policy tools to respond to emerging hybrid threats. Drawing on her experience in geopolitics and crisis management, she underscored the need for integrating civil preparedness, public trust, and strategic communications into national security strategies.
“Our concept of security must evolve beyond traditional defence frameworks,” Hlivco said during the discussion. “We are facing not only military threats but psychological, informational, and institutional ones—and we need a whole-of-society response to meet them.”
Her remarks resonated with a broader theme of the conference: the urgency of aligning policy, innovation, and values to safeguard open societies in an increasingly contested world.
St James’s Foreign Policy Group is proud to support such strategic conversations at the highest level of international affairs and security policy.
