Aliona Hlivco Delivers Guest Lecture at the University of Roehampton
Aliona Hlivco, Founder and CEO of the St. James’s Foreign Policy Group, recently delivered a guest lecture to MA students in International Relations at the University of Roehampton, engaging the next generation of foreign policy professionals in a wide-ranging discussion on today’s global challenges.
The session explored the contours of the emerging world order, the growing importance of mini- and multilateral frameworks, and geopolitical developments across several regions. Aliona examined the future trajectory of Cuba, Mexico’s evolving strategic leverage, and questions of governance and statehood in Africa amid intensifying competition for resources — particularly between Russia and China.
Alongside geopolitical analysis, she shared practical reflections on building a meaningful career in international affairs and spoke candidly about the opportunities and challenges of leadership as a woman in foreign policy.
Reflecting on the experience, Aliona Hlivco noted that engaging with students is both energising and reassuring, highlighting their strong sense of purpose, values, and commitment to shaping a more stable global future.
